PSL 8 is the Pakistan Super League’s eighth season. The season is scheduled to run from February 20 to March 22, 2020. A total of 34 matches will be played, with each team playing twice in the double round-robin format.

The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is a professional Twenty20 cricket league. It was established by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in 2016. The inaugural season of the PSL started on 4 February 2016 and concluded on 23 March 2016.

The league is operated by the PCB and is governed by the Pakistan Cricket Board Constitution. The PSL features five franchises representing different cities in Pakistan. Each team plays ten matches, four in the group stage and six in the playoffs.

The top four teams from the group stage qualify for the playoffs. The playoff stage consists of two semi-finals and a final, with all matches played over three hours including a ten-minute break between innings. All playoff matches are played at neutral venues.

The first season of the PSL was won by Islamabad United, who defeated Quetta Gladiators in the final by six wickets to lift the trophy.[1] Karachi Kings were crowned as runners up while Peshawar Zalmi finished third after losing to Islamabad United in Qualifier 1.[2] Lahore Qalandars were at the bottom of points table with just two wins out of their ten matches.[3]

In its second edition, which was held from 9 February to 7 March 2017, Peshawar Zalmi emerged victorious after defeating Quetta Gladiators in Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium by 58 runs.[4][5] Darren Sammy led his side to victory for second consecutive year while Kamran Akmal was declared man of tournament for scoring 405 runs,[6][7] becoming first Pakistani batsman to score 400 or more runs in T20 format.[8] Shahid Afridi announced his retirement from international cricket after playing last match of tournament against Karachi Kings on 7 March 2017 but said he will continue to play franchise based cricket leagues around world.
