Pakistan is a country located in southern Asia. The region that is now Pakistan has been inhabited for over 30,000 years. The people of the region have a long and rich history.

The region has seen the rise and fall of many civilizations, including the Indus Valley Civilization, Alexander’s Empire, the Mongol Empire, and the British Raj. Pakistan is home to over 200 million people, making it the sixth most populous country in the world. The population is young, with over 60% of people under the age of 30.

The country is ethnically diverse, with Punjabis, Pashtuns, Sindhis, Saraikis, Muhajirs, and Balochis making up the largest groups. Islam is the dominant religion in Pakistan – over 95% of people identify as Muslim. The capital of Pakistan is Islamabad, although Karachi is its largest city.

Urdu is the national language but English is also widely spoken. Pakistan has had a turbulent recent history. In 1971 East Pakistan seceded to become Bangladesh after a bloody civil war.

Since then Pakistan has been plagued by political instability and military coups – there have been three successful ones since 1977 alone! Corruption is also rampant throughout Pakistani society. The economy of Pakistan has grown rapidly in recent years but remains vulnerable to external shocks such as falling oil prices or terrorist attacks (as was recently seen when Taliban fighters attacked an airport in Karachi).

Remittances from Pakistani workers abroad are a vital source of income for many families back home; however these flows can be unpredictable too. In terms of news stories currently dominating headlines in Pakistan; firstly there would be discussion on Prime Minister Imran Khan’s recent visit to Saudi Arabia where he met with King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and other high-ranking officials to discuss strengthening bilateral ties between both countries – something which was reiterated during a joint press conference held by both leaders at which they announced several agreements worth billions of dollars had been reached .
