The company was a joint venture between Motorola Inc. and Saif Group and started operations with an initial investment of $500 million. Mobilink quickly became the country’s leading cellular operator with over 5 million subscribers by 2005.

The company has continued to invest in its network and expand its coverage, launching 3G and 4G services in 2013 and 2014 respectively. Today, Mobilink has over 36 million subscribers and is the largest cellular operator in Pakistan in terms of market share.
