Nawaz Sharif was born on December 25, 1949, in Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. He is the son of Muhammad Sharif and Shamim Akhtar. His father was an industrialist who owned Ittefaq Group.

Nawaz Sharif studied at St. Anthony’s High School and later attended Government College University (GCU) where he graduated with a degree in business administration. After the death of his father in 2004, Nawaz Sharif became the chairman of Ittefaq Group. He also served as Pakistan’s Prime Minister from 1990-1993 and again from 1997-1999.

In 2000, he was convicted of corruption charges and sentenced to life in prison but was later pardoned by Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf. Nawaz Sharif is currently the President of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), one of the two major political parties in Pakistan. He is also the richest man in Pakistan with a net worth of over $1 billion.

The party’s platform includes calls for privatizing state-owned industries, lowering taxes, and reducing government regulation of business. The party is also strongly opposed to same-sex marriage and abortion. Nawaz Sharif has been accused of corruption during his time as Prime Minister, and his family has been embroiled in several financial scandals.
