Imran Khan (Cricketer)
Imran Khan is a former Pakistani cricketer and current Prime Minister of Pakistan. He played international cricket for two decades in the late twentieth century and, after retiring, entered politics. His party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), emerged as one of the largest in the country during the 2018 general election.
Khan was born in 1952 in Lahore to a Pashtun family. He attended Aitchison College and later the University of Oxford, where he studied philosophy, politics and economics. As a cricketer, Khan played Test cricket for Pakistan from 1971 to 1992 and was captain of the national team from 1982 to 1992.
He is Pakistan’s leading wicket-taker in Test cricket, with 362 wickets, and led his country to victory at the 1992 Cricket World Cup. After retiring from cricket, Khan founded PTI in 1996. In 2001, Khan married journalist Reham Khan with whom he has three sons.
The couple divorced ten years later. In February 2018, Khan married his third wife Bushra Maneka; they have no children together.
