He started out as a saddlery business and eventually expanded into other areas such as luggage, handbags, and clothing. The company flourished under his leadership and became one of the most successful luxury brands in the world. In 2015, Kering (formerly known as PPR) acquired a majority stake in Gucci, making it a part of their Luxury Group division which also includes Yves Saint Laurent, Alexander McQueen, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, Boucheron, etc.

Today, Gucci is one of the most well-known and recognizable luxury brands in the world. It offers a wide range of products including ready-to-wear clothes, handbags, shoes, jewelry & watches, fragrances & beauty products. Under the creative direction of Alessandro Michele since 2015 (who succeeded Frida Giannini),Gucci has been praised for its “retro yet modern” aesthetic which has brought new life to the brand while staying true to its roots.
